History – about Beck, about us.

Beck was founded by Alois Beck from Oedheim as long ago as 1928. In his private house, he manufactured gymnastics shoes for sports clubs.

In 1969, the two-men-business was sold for reasons of age to master shoemaker Roland Bendeich who was running a shoe shop in Erlenbach together with his wife Erika. His father Otto Bendeich had already been the shoemaker in Erlenbach and Binswangen for years.

As the business development was positive, the company Alois Beck GmbH was founded in 1978, with Roland Bendeich as Managing Director and associate.

In 1987, the ever-growing order situation enabled to build a sorting-depot with office, storage, and production facilities in the industrial area of Erlenbach.

After his studies, Rainer, Roland’s son, who had grown up in this daily “shoe hype”, was following in the footsteps of his father in 1995.

The storage facilities were doubled by a new construction alongside the existing storehouse in 2002.

In 2005, Rainer’s wife Carola joined the company. As a tax specialist Carola is in charge of finance and accounting and above all for our employees.

The adjacent recycling yard could be acquired in 2008, which allowed a further extension.
In the same year we established the well-known brand "Kitz-Pichler by Beck", original Tyrolean slippers, made by 100% pure wool.

In 2010, we reaffirmed our partnership with V-May/Fuyang Shoes China by joint venture corporations.

Two years later, in 2012 we bought the building “In den Lachen 12”. In this year, we also sealed our corporation with Paliutis in Lithuania to strengthen our European production line.

In October 2014, the buildings were connected by another extension and so a total storage area of 6,000 square metres was created.

In May 2015, we celebrated the opening of our small factory outlet – our chance to be close to our customers and not lose sight of the essential in all this red tape and being chained to our desks: the parents and their children who buy our shoes.

In the Summer of 2017 we introduced our new designing office in Treysa to our customers. Design, development, fitting, quality assurance is increasingly important for us. In the meantime, the office is domiciled at our company location.

March 2020  marked the start of the Corona pandemic. The stationary trade and even the mail order collapsed. Lock-Down. Stop of further distribution. All fairs and customer appointments were cancelled. Beck was shocked.

Then the enlightenment: Let’s start with production of face masks rapidly. Within one week we switched production to face masks. We used available material and were able to deliver our masks to hospitals, rescue services, old people’s home, pharmacies, but also to DEUTSCHE POST, forwarders and food markets. Production increased to seven-digit dimensions.

Due to a good deal of luck and the support of all, we were able to prevail these tough times without short-time work and state subsidies.

To secure shorter delivery times and better service, we adjusted – once more – our logistics. Almost three thousand square meters of additional storage space were created in October 2020.

Our factory sales have now been established in all divisions. Direct contact with our clients is a source of satisfaction and we learn something new again – to see our footwear with the eyes of customers.

In June 2021 we were able to move into a former tennis hall and expand our factory sales once again.

In modern ambience we offer our bestsellers but also shoes from partner productions.

What will happen next?
We do not know.
But we are making every effort to continue to be a dependable partner for both our staff and our customers.
